When mentioning classical guitar, famous musical pieces such as Francisco Tárrega's Recuerdos de la Alhambra or Joaquín Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez may come to mind. There may be others who admire the sound of one of J. S. Bach's instrumental pieces arranged for the classical guitar.
While these famous pieces are an essential part of any musical repertoire, they are not the only pieces that can be played on classical guitars. Even in the world of popular music, there are many areas where the delicate timbre of the classical guitar is an essential component. The bossa nova style of music played by popular guitarists such as Luiz Bonfa and Baden Powell can be extremely enticing for beginners. The guitars used in bossa nova are generally classical guitars.
