mLAN Updater for i88X User Guide
Thank you for purchasing and using the Yamaha i88X Audio/MIDI Interface.
This application is for updating the mLAN part of the i88X's firmware.
What's new in this update:
· This data set updates the mLAN firmware of the i88X to version "B0-519".
· This version of firmware was modified to support internal processing changes when plugging or unplugging mLAN(IEEE1394/FireWire) cable between the i88X and the computer.
· With the previous versions of the mLAN firmware of the i88X, there is no major problem in use, however this new version makes the internal processing when plugging/unplugging smoother.
Before updating:
STEP1:This updater needs you to have the
"mLAN Driver and Tools (for 01X, i88X or mLAN16E)", which can
be the version bundled with Yamaha i88X or the version downloaded from "http://www.mlancentral.com",
to be installed and functioning correctly.
[NOTE]
This updater can be used in conjunction with any version of "mLAN Driver and Tools (for 01X, i88X or mLAN16E)", including version 1.5.3(1.5.1 for Macintosh OS 9) which accompanies this file set. It is your choice as to whether you perform the firmware updates to i88X before or after you have updated the drivers.
STEP2: Before updating the firmware, connect your Yamaha i88X to your computer (Windows XP/Macintosh) via an mLAN(IEEE1394/FireWire) cable.
[IMPORTANT NOTE]
1. Only one computer is allowed in the IEEE1394 (FireWire) network. If you are using Firewire based networking to link other computers, please disconnect them before performing this update.
2. If you have more than one i88X in your system, please disconnect the second or more units, and update each one, separately.
3. Please disconnect all cables from other IEEE1394 (FireWire) devices or switch the power to any other Firewire device connected off, before performing this update. This includes DV video cameras, hard disk drives etc.
Note: Whilst
the update is in progress
1. Please don't
unplug your mLAN (IEEE1394/FireWire) cable.
2. Please don't connect any other IEEE1394 (FireWire/mLAN) devices.
3. Please don't turn i88X's power off.
Procedure for update:
1. Before starting the updater, please connect the i88X and computer with mLAN (IEEE1394/FireWire) cable and turn on the i88X's power.
2. Double-click "mLAN_Updater_for_i88X.exe (for Windows XP)" or "mLAN Updater for i88X (for Mac OS9)" which is located in same folder as this document.
3. On screen, the following window will open, which shows i88X and the
current version of your mLAN firmware. Please note that this is different to
your mLAN firmware of the i88X, which is covered by a different update. This
update is concerned with the mLAN firmware chipset of the i88X.
[NOTE]
The version displayed in this dialogue box depends on your i88X.
If the version displayed is "B0-519", then no further action is needed.
You may proceed to quit the updater and move to step 8.
4. After pushing the [Update] button, a confirmation dialog will be displayed. When the [OK] button is pressed, the updating of your i88X mLAN firmware will begin.
